Super Slings can be 15 times lighter than steel

More and more heavy lifting jobs are engineering the lifts using synthetic slings instead of wire rope and chain. There are many advantages to using Synthetic slings in heavy lifting. A SS-3000 sling has a vertical capacity of 300,000lbs and at a 60 foot length the sling would weight 320lbs. To reach the same capacity in a wire rope the slings would have to be 4-1/8" diameter, and a 60 foot sling would weigh 2000lbs. That is quite a difference in handling. This changes the amount of people required to do the lift, and the type of machinery used to do the lift.
